you know what sucks?

Having a colicky baby and no help…my husband tries, but the baby is super needy and he often gets flustered while I have to work and take care of the baby at the same time and when I try to relax I just hear constant screaming and can’t get comfortable because all I want to do is calm him.  I really can’t take living in this area anymore…no help…no cares…sure his pop pop loves him very much but he doesn’t know what to do either.

I hope this whole colic stage and acid reflux start to dissipate soon, it’s incredibly hard.

    • he just turned 11 weeks. The acid is killer, too. We can’t touch his dosage until his follow up appointment in 8 days. I know they are going to up it because of his increased weight and age. He’s obviously uncomfortable and constantly spits up acid. It’s just a very hard time for both of us and not having anyone to help makes it so much worse.

      • My friend had a baby with awful reflux and she just said “screw the recall” and used s nap nanny. It was the only way she could get her baby girl to sleep well. She said it was just hellish. I really hope your doc can help-I hate that you have to wait so long and have no help!

      • He’s a great sleeper, just between 3 and 9pm are enough to make anyone to go mental. The more I read about it the more I understand why he is doing this and there is nothing I can do to stop it. All I can do is try to comfort him. It is definitely hard…and hopefully we are nearing the end of it!

  1. Please know you’re not alone! My daughter was born five weeks early on February 2, 2015 (she is also my rainbow baby after losing my stillborn son in 2013). My daughter was diagnosed with acid reflex at around seven weeks. Pretty much until week 13 or 14 she was the exact same way that you are describing your son is. COLIC! The only way I could get her to calm down is where her around the house and walk or a ride in the car. I am so lucky because my mom and dad live across town from me and would come over and relieve me when I was feeling overwhelmed. I don’t know what I would do without them. Just know that you’re not alone and that I just finished going through this. My daughter is 18 weeks now and is doing amazing! I look back and can’t believe how we ever got through it but you just do! Also, Micah is on Prevacid and we think that worked better for her than Zantac. More expensive, but worth having my sanity back! Thinking and praying for you!

  2. It DOES suck. It’s really hard and nobody seems to talk about it. Im without family around too and since the day Toby was born, I’ve been looking for way to get closer to them… Hang in there. It WILL pass.

  3. My babe was never diagnosed with acid reflux or called colic BUT he definitely went through a very fussy clingy stage at that age during those hours… the so called “witching hour”. I remember that the only thing that would calm him was movement and we got so tired of walking around, we would just sit on our exercise ball and bounce him. hehe. You’ll get through it mama!! Life throws us these challenges for some reason.
